In September of 2018, we moved from our dream home where we had raised our four children and downsized to a condo less than half the size.

The move
In late September of 2018, we sold our home of 16 years - a beautiful 5200 square foot custom home we designed and built on a hillside in a rural Vermont town. With nearly four acres of land we had tons of privacy and a stunning view of the mountains. There was room for the kids to play outside, we had a chicken coop in the yard with a flock of 8 chickens and one rooster and a walking trail through the woods at the perimeter of our land. We had plenty of space to entertain and host family gatherings, all adding to the countless happy memories we have from our time at the house.
But with three in college and the fourth finishing out her high school career, we knew it was time to make a change. We decided to buy a condo in South Burlington, Vermont - closer to our daughter's school and my family. We left the quieter life in a small town and embraced the slightly more hectic paced scene of Vermont's largest city (still very small by most standards). Deciding to buy a condo was driven in large part by a lack of real estate inventory and pricing. We were very fortunate to find a large (for a condo) unit with three bedrooms and 2.5 baths plus a two car garage and large storage room. Still, we were downsizing by more than half so the challenge was on!
